CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Peter White, who has more than 30 years of experience in international programming, will speak on “Major Issues We Will Face in 2008: Issues the U.S. Downplays at its Peril” during the World Affairs Council of South Texas Luncheon Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Omni Bayfront Tower.

White is founder and president of the Southern Center for International Studies, a non-profit, educational institution dedicated to internationalizing the thinking of Americans. He regularly advises universities and state government officials and corporations and also contributes articles relating to U.S. foreign policy issues.

In 2000, at the request of the British government, he met with leaders of the main political and government agencies in Northern Ireland to examine the peace process which ended the violence between nationalists and British troops that plagued the country from 1969 until last year when home rule was returned to the country.

White is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and is trustee of the Communicable Disease Center Foundation.
