A Message from Dr. Frank Pezold
Dean, College of Science and Technology
Dear Friends,
It is a great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Dean of Science and Technology. A few months ago, I arrived with two “labs” —one kenneled in the back of my pickup truck, and the other in a 26-foot rental truck. That second lab consisted of my books and about 30,000 fishes from Africa, Micronesia and the Gulf of Mexico. If you haven’t guessed, I study fishes; more specifically, their evolution, diversity and conservation.
Prior to coming to the University, I was Director of the Museum of Natural History at the University of Louisiana - Monroe (ULM) and Program Director of the ULM/Howard Hughes Undergraduate Science Education Program. From 1998 to 2002 I served as Associate Dean of Pure and Applied Sciences at ULM. I hold a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Biology from the University of New Orleans, and I received my Ph.D. in Zoology at the University of Texas in 1984.
It’s great be back in Texas and in beautiful Corpus Christi. My wife, Paula, and I have been overwhelmed by the local hospitality. Despite my burnt orange history, I have to admit it is also great to be a member of The Texas A&M University System. A&M-Corpus Christi is a dynamic university with lots of energy. To be a part of the Momentum 2015 strategy is especially exciting because of the pivotal role our College will play in meeting President Killebrew’s challenge.
Please join us as we pursue those opportunities. And just as this community has welcomed my family and me, please know that the doors of the college are open to you. Looking forward to making your acquaintance! |
