Cosby for A&M-CCBill Cosby in Corpus Christi

On Dec. 5, 2002, Bill Cosby performed in Corpus Christi at the South Texas Hispanic/Student Scholarship Fund’s first benefit extravaganza, sponsored by community leaders and various companies from Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. Money raised from the event held at the Bayfront Plaza Convention Center will benefit Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, enabling the University to award scholarships in Fall 2003 to students from Nueces, San Patricio and Aransas counties.

As one of the most popular personalities in America today, Cosby is known for his family-style humor, his success as the best-selling comedian of all time on record sales, his positive long-running television programming, and his books – Fatherhood, Time Flies and Cosbology. Less known, perhaps, is the fact that Cosby earned his Master’s in Education in 1972 and his Doctorate in Education in 1977 from the University of Massachusetts.

“Bill Cosby’s brand of family humor was a perfect fit to help raise money for local students,” Tony La Mantia, owner of L&F Distributors, said. “The $200,000 raised will make an immediate impact and will be available for students attending A&M-Corpus Christi in the fall of 2003.”
