A Message from University President
Dr. Flavius C. Killebrew
The week of presidential inauguration activities in September was an exhilarating, exciting and unforgettable time.
It was also an extraordinarily affirming week, as I witnessed the outpouring of support for our University from students, faculty, staff, alumni, the local community, elected officials and colleagues from throughout the state.
On Saturday, September 10, I had the humbling and inspiring experience of being invested as President of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The visual image of our faculty in full regalia, the representation from The Texas A&M University System, the keynote address from A&M System Chancellor Emeritus Barry Thompson and the presence of national, state and local elected officials made it one of the highlights of my career.
And there were two other notable events. At the State of the University Luncheon, more than 600 supporters of the University turned out to learn about Momentum 2015, the University’s strategic plan for the next 10 years. In doing so, they also contributed $37,000 for scholarships through our Achieve Partnership scholarship program.
That same day, the University was welcomed into the Southland Conference, an accomplishment that will elevate our athletics program and the visibility of our University.
I am overwhelmed. Kathy and I want to convey our deepest appreciation to all our friends who made the week the experience of a lifetime. And I invite all of you to remain close to the University as we continue to move toward new levels of achievement.
Flavius C. Killebrew
