A message from Athletic Director
Dan Viola

Dan ViolaSo many great things are going on with your Islanders that I don’t know where to begin. Our ‘03-’04 seasons have been phenomenal; including two conference championships (men’s tennis and women’s softball) and the Islander basketball programs boasting their best ever seasons, the men finishing at 15-11 and the women ending their greatest season yet with a 19-9 record.

The softball program won its second straight Big South Conference championship and appeared again in the NCAA regional tournament.

Individually, senior third baseman Katie Evans became the first A&M-Corpus Christi athlete named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, one of just 10 players nationally selected to the first team.

It’s been many long years in the making, but the new American Bank Center is close to completion and we are looking forward to the new home of Islander men’s and women’s basketball. The construction looks like it will be right on schedule, and we should be opening the season there in early November. Tickets are on sale now; just call 825-2255. Or, follow us on the Web @ www.goislanders.com.

We are also pleased to welcome the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball organization. We look forward to great relations with them and are excited about the college baseball tournament they will be hosting for us in the spring of 2006 at their new home, Whataburger Field.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank alumni and fans for their continued support. If you haven’t seen our student-athletes live in action, I’d like to personally invite you to become part of the excitement that is Islander Athletics.
