A message from Student Foundation President
Julie Lashua

Julie LashuaThe A&M-Corpus Christi Student Foundation, in its eighth year of existence at A&M-Corpus Christi, promotes the well-being of the University and initiates traditions on campus.

The primary goal of SFA is to fund five $1000 freshman scholarships every year. The major fundraiser is the Walk of Recognition, with students selling paving stones which are placed in the CI Courtyard. Any person associated with the University or community may purchase a paver for $100 or $250. The stones are largely memorials, graduation presents, or mementos purchased by alumni to commemorate their past attendance.

The Tuition Chance Fundraiser is aimed at the parents of University students. Tickets are sold for a prize of $600 applicable towards tuition and fees for one class. People may buy an unlimited number of tickets, but no more than 1500 will be sold. Non-students, alumni or faculty members who purchase a ticket and win can donate the winning ticket to a student of their choice.

The third main SFA fundraiser is the Islander Revue, which is aimed primarily at students, but gives alumni, donors, and the community the opportunity to see student talent. Student groups put together song and dance performances of their choice and on the Friday of homecoming week compete for cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1000. The Revue is judged by a panel of faculty, donors, staff, and student representatives, and the money funds student trips, meetings, and other needs.
