Student Foundation
Sister Act

After two dynamic years of leadership as Student Foundation Association (SFA) president, Kellie Lashua, the oldest of four sisters, passed the leadership on to sister Jamie Lashua, a junior at the University. With Kellie graduating in December and Jamie plunging into her presidency, another sister, first-year student Julie Lashua, also plans to do her part to help SFA advance the University by building strong relationships with students, alumni and donors.

During the summer, SFA promoted their Tuition Chance Program in which students can win one semester of free in-state tuition. Proceeds go toward Student Foundation leadership scholarships.

Plans are in motion for the third annual Islander Revue to be held during 2004 Homecoming and Parents Weekend. At last year’s sold-out musical Revue, The Last Act Theatre Co. took the $1,000 first prize for performing Jailhouse Tango from “Chicago.”

One of SFA’s most important traditions is the Walk of Recognition, located in the Center for Instruction Courtyard. The Walk displays graduates’ achievements in the form of personalized pavers. Pavers make wonderful gifts and may be viewed online.
