NSTA's Kid's Science Day Out Targets Students in Grades 3 through 8
On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi chapter of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) held a Kid’s Science Day Out at the Educational Center for Math and Science. The afternoon was spent conducting fun and intriguing hands-on activities including building rockets, learning about gravity and finding the center of gravity of various objects, and making polymers. The participants also used their developing scientific knowledge to solve the mysteries behind activities such as a creepy growing soap, screaming balloons or expanding peeps. The activities, targeted for students in grades 3-5 and 6-8, were designed to help the young scientists become more familiar with concepts they need to learn as part of their school curriculum. The next NSTA Kid's Science Day Out will be April 5, 2008. Information will be provided on the NSTA Web site (nsta.tamucc.edu).
