Jon Comer

The Islander Cultural Alliance hosted an evening with pro skateboarder Jon Comer Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the University Center, Lone Star Ballroom as part of National Disability Awareness Month.

Comer, who was struck by a car at age 4 and skates with a prosthetic leg, discussed how he overcame his disability and achieved his dream of becoming a pro skateboarder. Comer, the subject of the 2004 documentary film “Never Been Done: The Jon Comer Story,” tours the country presenting demonstrations that inspire others to reach their goals. Comer became professional after years of competing in contests around the country.
