Memorial Held for Virginia Tech Victims

More than 500 people turned out to remember the 32 victims of the massacre at Virginia Tech during a memorial service Friday, April 20 in the Hector P. Garcia Center. The service coincided with ceremonies at Universities across the nation.

In addition to several speakers and a moment of silence, the memorial included a solo of “Amazing Grace” by Flika Rahn, professor of music and a rendition of the Virginia Tech alma mater by the University’s Music Ensemble.

“The incident at Virginia Tech is a tragedy being felt by all universities and colleges across the nation,” said University President Flavius Killebrew. “Our hearts go out to the parents of Virginia Tech’s students who have been killed and injured. Many are suffering greatly today, and the Virginia Tech community of students, faculty, staff and parents is in our thoughts”
