Tanya Lopez Named Student Employee of the Year
Tanya Lopez a junior media communications and business major, was named the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Student Employee of the Year at a ceremony Thursday, April 12.
For the past eight months, Lopez has worked 20 hours a week as an office coordinator for University Center and Student Activities and has been praised for her enthusiasm, swiftness and accuracy in completing projects.
Lopez supervises eight student workers, trains them in proper telephone etiquette and effective customer service skills, manages student schedules and oversees the ordering of office supplies and delivers campus mail.
Lopez was chosen from 17 finalists nominated from the ranks of A&M-Corpus Christi’s 716 student workers. She was awarded a $250 scholarship, an engraved desk clock, a $100 SandDollars card, a plaque and certificate and a backpack.
The Student Employee of the Year award is sponsored by the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) to recognize students for superior work qualities in the areas of reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution.
