President’s Council Awards Scholarships to
Art Competition Winners
Three A&M-Corpus Christi students have received scholarships for their winning entries in the 6th annual President’s Council Art Scholarship Competition Apri1 at the Art Museum of South Texas.
Winners were chosen by President Council members who cast their ballots after viewing the entries during an April 10 reception. The $1,000 first prize went to Sarah Eckols for entry “Bob Hall Pier. The $750 second prize was awarded to Johnny Bilano for “O Thou Comest to the Woeful Inn. There was a tie for third place between Sunil Kilaru for “Jessica” and Patricia Barrera for “Inner-Abstraction (Study I). Both received a $500 scholarship from the President’s Council.
During the reception, President’s Council Co-Chairs Karen and Larry Urban announced that more than $100,000 has been raised toward the council’s goal of $130,000 to fund scholarships. The scholarship drive will continue through Aug. 31.
The President’s Council art Scholarship Competition is open to all degree-seeking A&M-Corpus Christi students.
