Jake Schumann Selected to Lead Islander Softball Program

Jake Schumann, who led his teams to three 30-win seasons in four years at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, is the new head coach of the Islander softball team.

Schumann, the fourth head softball coach in Islander history, guided the Javelinas to a 34-22 record and a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament last season. He leaves A&M-Kingsville with 120 victories, the most in Javelinas history.

“I am excited about Jake Schumann taking the reigns and leading our softball program back to the level where it was just a short time ago,” said Director of Athletics Brian Teter. “Jake is a winner and I really like his energy and vision for where he wants to take Islander softball. He is a tremendous fit for the department and for the university.”
