Songok Earns All-America Cross Country Honors

Shadrack Songok became the University’s first two-time All-American athlete with a 19th place finish in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Terre Haute, Indiana last month.

Songok was the first runner from the Southland Conference runner to cross the finish line and the second runner from the region, trailing only eighth-place finisher Peter Kosgei of Arkansas.

In June, Songok became the first Islander athlete to earn All-America honors when he took fifth-place in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships at Sacramento State University.
