University Illuminates the Campus during ‘Islander Lights’ Holiday Celebration

Islander Lights Celebration
Buildings on campus along Ocean Drive were illuminated Friday, Nov. 30, as part of the ‘Islander Lights” holiday celebration.

Santa Claus joined in the merriment during the University’s “Islander Lights” celebration Friday, Nov. 30, at the Performing Arts Center plaza. During the holiday event, children visited with Santa and enjoyed arts and crafts, a dunking booth, an inflatable obstacle course and a moonwalk. Musical and dance performances by students from the Early Childhood Development Center and the Islander Corp Auxiliary Performers filled the campus with the sounds of the holidays.

At 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center plaza, the buildings came alive when
University President Flavius Killebrew and local dignitaries threw the switch to illuminate the campus along Ocean Drive with Islander blue, green and white holiday lights. In the spirit of the season, the “Islander Lights” celebration was the culmination of the Wishes and Dreams Toy Drive, where hundreds of toys were donated to brighten the holidays for many children.
