'Holiday Gala' Held Sunday, Dec. 2

  Symphonic Winds
Performers at the ‘Holiday Gala’ Sunday, Dec. 2, included the University Jazz Band, the Percussion Ensemble, the University Singers and the Symphonic Winds.

The Department of Music presented its “Holiday Gala” Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Performing Arts Center. Familiar holiday tunes included “Christmas Time is Here,” “The Little Drummer Boy” and selections from “Messiah” and “The Polar Express.”

Performers included the University Jazz Band, led by director Eddie Olivares; the Percussion Ensemble led by Dr. Matthew McClung, visiting assistant professor of music; the University Orchestra led by Dr. Ronald Scott, associate professor of music; the University Singers led by Dr. Sam Logsdon, professor of music; and the Symphonic Winds led by Dr. Shawn Smith, assistant professor of music. Other performers included Arlene Long, visiting instructor of music and piano, flutist Lauren Lyman, vocalist Cassi Torres and sopranos Dee Donasco and Stacy Muniz.
